Present in the Now With You
Present in the Now With You
I saw you as I rode
The bus to town
Your hair was oily sun drenched
Clothing scruffy hanging down.
You stood in peace amidst
A hectic crazy scene that day
As herds of people jostled for position
Desperate to arrive at work without delay.
Power suits went racing by
Leather briefcase dragged in tow,
Financial times held under arm
Clutching a Starbucks drink to go.
Consumed in self importance
Wallowing in beliefs of their self worth,
But I watched you feeding pigeons
At one with Mother Earth.
Time did not exist for you
Nor for me I must confess
As I was present in the now with you
Enriched by the stillness
This feeling drew me close to you
But I remained there with a smile,
Watching from a distance happily
As you made the trip worthwhile
