I should preface this with a disclaimer: I love the state I live in. It's beautiful, with clear skies, friendly people, small town feel, with all the normal city amenities. But sometimes the state has some extremely asinine politics. This is one of the reddest states in the union, and has certainly not figured out the meaning of separation of church and state. A little over a week ago a long running controversy was finally voted down by just a margin of 1 vote in the Idaho House. Should women be given death certificates for zygotes and blastocysts and any fetus under 20 weeks old that is miscarried? The state already provides a death certificate for fetuses over twenty weeks old. I am not trying to broach a religious topic, but it was absurd to me that certain factions wanted to waste our taxpayer dollars on ridiculous death certificates that would have to be kept in perpetuity for record keeping purposes. Have a ceremony if you need, but why waste precious state resources to recognize your loss? Thank goodness this was defeated!
