Pro Ana Information
posted December 11, 2008 - 12:22amPro Ana is a belief that anorexia is not a medical disorder nor is it an eating problem. People who suffer from eating disorders do so because of a perceived conception that they need to be thin to look good. They are very consumed about the way they look and feel that in order to feel confident or good about themselves, they must be a thin as they can get. To overcome these conditions we cannot force people and try to get them to eat to overcome anorexia. I have listed below some pro ana tips and tricks below.
If you are trying to get someone to understand anorexia, it is going to be a useless battle. If someone is in the denial stages of anorexia, let them be. For them, it is what is bringing them sustenance for the time being. The more that anyone tries to force them to do something or change, the more they will want to lash out and oppose a belief system or an attempt to change. The only way that you can overcome this is by letting them be and letting go. The more the you show the person unconditional love as they are, the less the likelihood of them continuing a downward trend or spiral. All the individual needs to know is that they do not need to stop eating for approval. They need to accept and love themselves first. Some people struggle with pro ana because they are out to hurt people for the ways that they have been hurt in the past. This is common with pro ana. Some people use it against other people, but if you take away the affect that it is having on you, and take away their power, by not letting it affect you or anyone else, you can overcome pro ana and anorexia.
The only way to beat anorexia and an eating disorder is to find the root of the problem. Anorexia only stems from one of two things. It has to do with self image and acceptance or it has to do with inflicting pain and trying to gain control over their lives by not eating. The only way to truly help someone is to stop trying to force change. They and only then will they realize they have a disorder. People only do certain things to try and force change. If you leave them in their ways long enough, they will realize that their methods are not working and will try new methods to find fulfillment. Again, someone will only seek help if they want it, so there is no point in trying to convince anyone of anything. If they are going to hurt others in the process then there can be an intervention, but if they are only hurting themselves, there is nothing that you can do.
