The Process Of Drawing A Monster
posted May 4, 2009 - 4:02pmWhen it comes to the process of drawing monsters, it is best to reach deep inside that imaginative brain of yours and have some good old fashioned imagination to rely on to create these monster creatures from nothing.
I like to think of a piece of art as a journey as to what you could produce if you create a certain amount of , monsters are very exciting to draw and no monster shoud be limited in any way, they should be drawn to maximum originality and extreme over exaggeration for them to be considered great.
The monster drawing in this article was a monster I drew years ago and only got around to inking it and shading it not so long ago, but when I first drew it I had the idea of omething that would just look scary, but had the visual goaty beard that would seem hilarious.
And so the process of drawing a monster all comes down to a series of steps to make that drawing happen:
1. draft out the intitial idea or concept with rough pencil lines that create a sense of possible combinations of figure or facial features.
2. Refine and define the pencil lines to fill out the monster subject at hand, be careful at this stage as there is a tendency to overwork the drawing at this stage.
3. Add detail and clean up the pencil lines, making the pencil marks more solid helps your drawing become clearer and more professional.
4. Clean up any smudge marks and ink the drawing if you wish, inking is the process of darkenig the pencil lines with a black fine liner or something similar to create a sense of depth and clarity.
