There is no country in the world where superstitious beliefs are not practiced in one form or the other to ward off troubles,diseases and other kinds of distress and disasters.
In India also such beliefs have been in existence from time immemorial.One very common such belief is that if an iron shoe of a black horse is hung on the wall of the front door of a house ,misfortune never strikes that household.We have seen every civilized ,cultured and educated people hanging horse's shoe above the front of their shops.Even a doctor in our neighbourhood has a horse shoe had brought him good luck and his practices when no other alternative was left to him in his troubled times .It is a common practice in Hindus to put an earthen pitcher full of water in the houses before their shifting in it.
