Protein in Weight Loss

9. Protein’s place in weight loss program

Whatever food we eat into own body has micronutrients, macronutrients and water. The macronutrients are fat, protein and carbohydrates. We get calories which macronutrients “If we do not have macronutrients, well have to die due to starvation. Without the presence of micronutrients we will die due to health deterioration.
Proteins are a big group of compounds (having nitrogen) of high molecular weight which are vital constituents of living organisms. Proteins have 22 compounds called amino acids. Proteins are important for the cell structure of hair, nails, blood, heart etc., proteins are rich in eggs, soy, dairy products.
What sort of effect do proteins have on our body? Especially what impact do they have on the insulin production on our body? Insulin is essential in controlling many activities such as the storage of fat, appetite regulation and regulation of water in the kidney etc. If you eat fat, it will not have any effect on your insulin level and it really reduces your hunger. When you eat a diet which is high in Carbohydrates, the increase in levels of glucose cause insulin resistance. Our body’s cells them don’t respond to the insulin so the pancreas produces more and more insulin. Our body then refuses to burn the glucose into energy. The continuous build up of glucose means we will have type II diabetes.
If you take a food that contains protein, it produces a moderate amount of insulin. Protein also produces hormone glucagons. It takes away the fat from the body by burning it for energy. It also controls and reduces the production of cholesterol ad orders the kidney to release fluid and salt. Protein also controls and regulates your blood sugar level and even brings down your blood sugar levels by counteracting the effect of insulin.
So it is essential to take protein rich food to keep our body fit and proper and try to avoid foods which contain excess oil and cholesterol.
It is recommended that women should take 100 gram of protein and men should have 150 gram of protein. If you feel that the food you are eating does not have enough protein, you can take protein powder. Thus, you can lose your weight by gaining energy lowering cholesterol and blood pressure.
