Pulitzer Prize - Starving Child

Pulitzer Prize - Starving Child

This is the "Pulitzer Prize" winning photo taken by Kevin Carter in 1994 during Sudan Famine. The picture depicts a famine striken child crawling towards the United Nations Food Camp which is a kilometer ahead.

The picture shocked the entire world. No one knows what happened to the child.
Carter left the place soon after taking the photograph.
Three months later he committed sucide due to depression.

The questions is - shouldn't he have done something to perhaps help the child? Such as taking it to the UN food centre, it WAS only 1km away. Is this why he felt depressed? Because he didn't do anything? Would it have mattered anyway if he did? What would you have done?
