If you intend to be the nominee of the party, in order to run for President of the United States, then you have to win primaries and caucuses held in the different states. That would seem to be the message that Senator Hillary Clinton received from someone. She had previously lost eleven straight contests, since Super Tuesday, to Senator Barack Obama, and had accumulated less pledged delegates during the state elections. Thus giving the perception, that she looked less likely, to be the nominee for the Democratic party.
Well, she put on her boxing gloves and came out slugging, throwing everything that her campaign could find, or looked like they found, to try to pull Senator Obama down from his lofty perch, as many have portrayed Senator Obama as being, due to the eloquent speeches that he is prone to deliver, which we might say are very inspiring and uplifting.
The Clinton campaign raised questions subtlety about Mr. Obama's religion, knowing full well, that the man is a Christian, as had been stated many times, by the man himself.
Questioning his real estate dealings with a developer in Illinois, who is scheduled to go on trial this week. Mr.
Obama has said that what transpired between him and the developer was a mistake, which should have never happened.
The campaign and Mrs. Clinton directly mocked the speeches
Senator Obama made, inferring that speeches don't make for
solutions, and that it takes more than words, to deal with the problems of America. That his words were not even his own, referring to the dust-up about Mr. Obama using the same set of words used by Mr. Obama friend, the Governor of Massachuetts, who is Mr. Obama's co-chairman of his campaign, and had given him permission to use the phrases. Then comes the 3 a.m. phone call ad, ringing in the White House while children are sleeping in their bed, being looked in on, by their mother. Be afraid, be very afraid! Who do you want to answer that phone in the White House after six rings, why wouldn't they pick up the telephone, if it was such an emergency in the nation? And just what woman wears jewerly and make-up at 3 a.m.? Just a little bizarre, if you ask me. But wouldn't you know it, throwing the kitchen sink at your opponent, and going on various comedy shows, such as Saturday night Live, whinning and crying, and calling out the lawyers, going to court to stop people from caucusing in Nevada, locking people out in an effort to stop them from voting. This is reportedly what is going on in this primary election cycle. The Clintons appear to be intent on winning this election, by whatever means it takes. it is really something to behold, "you must not hope, you will be disappointed, Senator Obama will not be able to deliver, when he says, yes , you can "
Mrs. Clinton appears to be saying "no you can't". What a message to inspire, what a message to give to people, who from the looks of the crowds, that Senator Obama is drawing,
are crying out for something different, a new kind of Government, not the same old drudgery that has been going on in Washington. The Clintons want you to believe, that they know what the people need. My feeling is that they are wrong, but we will see.
So someone gave Senator Clinton the message that you must start winning, you can't lose yourself to the nomination.
So win she did, last night, she took Ohio, Rhode Island and Texas, by substantial margins. Senator Obama won Vermont.
After the count was completed, the delegate count remained virtual the same, with Senator Obama still in the lead with, as reported, 1,518 and Senator Clinton with 1,429.
One of the two, would have to have 2,025 to secure the nomination of the party.
It has been argued that Senator Clinton is winning or has won the largest states, as she has, California, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, and Texas to name a few, and that Senator Obama has yet to close the deal, in a large state. What would Illinois, Georgia, Connecticut, Virginia and Missouri be, did I miss something? The case could also be made that the states that he has won have been more red or purple. As someone asked, do you really think that California is going to go red in the general election? It's a valid question.
Senator Obama has been bringing together disaffected Democrats, Independents, Republicans, and other people who have not been to the polls in years. It is a movement of people who want and are desperate for a change in this country and the Clintons should think about whether it is worth what they are trying to do, to win this election. As opposed to moving out of the way and letting the people make their decision, without being subjected to, contrived and dangerously close, to the point of being unethical, tactics. Just so that Senator Clinton might have, what she must feel, is her destiny, of being President of the United States.
