Racy Pictures - A New Career Boost for Up and Coming Teenage Starlets?

Having a daughter of my own, I was saddened recently when more "racy" pictures appeared online of Disney's newest monkeymaker, singer-songwriter-star Miley Cyrus. Although Bill O'Reilly of FOX News chastized her for doing so at 14 (she is 15), the majority of fans seemed blithely unconcerned. The pictures show her lying on a young man's lap, her top lifted up to expose her bra, while another photo shows her posing in front of a camera, tugging her tank top down to reveal her bra. This comes on the heels of another set of photos that surfaced not too long ago, showing the "wholesome" young singer lolling on an unmade bed in t-shirt and panties, and what appears to be a self-shot of her in a bikini. Although she appears to remain clothed, the poses are nonetheless provocative and Lolitaesque in nature, leading one to wonder what the next career move will be? We have in recent months seen "leaked" photos of another Disney starlet, 18-year-old Vanessa Hudgens, showing full frontal nudity. These girls are role models, and someone needs to step in and provide some guidance. No one is saying it's Disney's fault, but perhaps some parenting is in order. One need only look to Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, young sister Jamie Lynn Spears, Paris Hilton, and others, to know that this is not where we want our young daughters going. Talk to them, spend time with them, and explain to them that celebrities are not necessarily the "coolest people" in the world. The Miley Cyruses of the world should treasure their youth, they are only young once. Don't rush it. In time you will grow into the stars of today--the Lohans, Hiltons, Hudgens and Spears--or wait, maybe that's the problem.
