Rants Part Five
posted September 4, 2009 - 6:51amPart 5
You have probably realized by now from reading my other rants or articles that I am not a very huge fan of religion. This is not to say I am against anyone who chooses religion, I just don’t like it, and I feel that it has absolutely no place in the modern world.
Okay I’m probably going to deeply offend some people, but do you know what? It is my opinion and it is never going to change. That is my right!
So if I have to hear about religion every day in the news and put up with religious hawkers knocking on my door, then I have every right to say my piece, as I have to listen to your word of the righteous every day!
Onto a story being branded about the news recently regarding a young athlete named Chase Kear.
Let me start by saying well done to the lad for showing true human grit in recovering from a traumatic head injury; that very nearly cost him his life.
For those who do not know who Chase Kear is I will explain:
Chase Kear is from Colwich in Wichita, Kansas. He was pole vaulting at a Hutchinson community athletics gathering, when tragedy happened.
He fell on his head during the pole vaulting practice and had to be air lifted by helicopter to Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus. During which time his family had been already praying for his health and a recovery.
Now far from it for me to bemoan a brave mans recovery, but I feel that a miracle is far from what the reality of this story suggests. There is far too much human intervention for this to be classed as a true miracle.
I don’t want to take any of this recovery from Chase Kear, what he and the team of medical people have achieved is nothing short of amazing; every credit to all of them, and also those who were involved in Chases Kear’s recovery.
These are my facts as to why this is not a miracle and to why I will save a Vatican investigator named Andrea Ambrosi the cost of an expensive plane ticket, to investigate this so called miracle.
It is not a miracle, the simple fact of the matter is that human intervention and science that has been often condemned as unholy by the Vatican has helped Chase Kear recover.
If it wasn’t for technology and medical science and the quick minds of those who dialed 911 then Chase would have died. It is that simple.
For Chase’s recovery to be deemed a miracle in the true sense, then surely his recovery would have started and finished on the athletics track where his accident happened, some random dude in a white suit would have appeared from nowhere and placed his hands on Chase. Mr. Kear would have got to his feet and continued to play sport.
Look I’m sorry if I am offending anybody here, but it seems that just because a few people prayed, that all the credit is being taken from those who deserve the credit for Chase Kear’s recovery, and diverted to some figment of an overly egotistical organization’s mind.
The simple fact is the recovery of Mr. Kear is an amazing story of human endeavor and a brilliant medical team. Along with that modern technology and one amazing young mans ability to fight for his life.
Hey Chase… fair play to you, you truly are an amazing and inspirational young man, and may you have a wonderful life of happiness. Also thanks to the team of individuals who helped Chase recovery. You are all true heroes!
The story of Chase Kear and his recovery can be read on ‘The Wichita Eagle’ website.

A 2 hour long reply
I put a video up tonight, well it is in a link... 2 hours long... treat it as a long long reply :p xD
It is graphic in parts... it will make sense to you... especially if you watch it all the way through.
There is a bit of violence at the beginning and some animation.
This documentary is something else if you have never seen it... If you saw Farenheit 9/11 then this makes that documentary look like a children's program.
It will have some moment where you may think that I placed the video up as an attack on you comment. I promise you it is not.
It is up to you how you take it in... i do advise you watch it through, if you don't have time... well when you have acouple of hours lol.
Have a great day/night/evening! :)

Lol... so many parts of this
Lol... so many parts of this to talk about. Lets see... I'll try to answer or comment to as many of the questions to the best of my knowledge.
1) Sorry to have misread your first statement. Although, Jesus' ministry on earth was that people would follow Him NOT to oppose the Roman's but so that they would receive salvation. If somehow He was a liar and was falsely leading these people astray... then how come He'd be willing to die for a lie (not a lie He wasn't aware of... but a lie He KNEW was a lie)... no one in their right mind would. He couldn't be crazy because none of the text indicates that He was insane. Anywho... thats just random lol
2) On the topic of dinosaurs, the bible doesn't indicate that dinasours DIDN'T exist. In fact, in the very first book of the bible, Genesis, it is mentioned that God put a firmament in the sky (which acts as a greenhouse effect) which would make the possibility of dinasours be even more realistic because of its effect on size.
"Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day. " Genesis 1:6-8
However, the great flood mentioned in Genesis (also known as Noah's ark) removed the firmament which would cause firstly... extinction... and secondly a stop in such humongous growth.
There are some cases, though, where large "monstrous" beasts are mentioned. Ex: the Behemoth & the Leviathan
"Look at the behemoth,
which I made along with you
and which feeds on grass like an ox.
What strength he has in his loins,
what power in the muscles of his belly!
His tail sways like a cedar;
the sinews of his thighs are close-knit.
His bones are tubes of bronze,
his limbs like rods of iron.
He ranks first among the works of God,
yet his Maker can approach him with his sword." Job 40:15-19
(google them if you'd like to know more about them)
3) You refuse to believe that their could be a God when there are so many wars and hate in this world. How so? Do you think it is because He's MAKING us feel this pain and suffering? Disease, pain, suffering, anger, hate, disformity, etc was not caused because God intended it that way... but because sin had entered the world these things became the product of it.
Some people think... IF there was a big Almighty God... then why doesn't He make us all believe in Him... why does He make it so hard to know if He's real or not. The truth is that God gave us a choice. He WANTS to be chosen... but ultimately He allows us to choose Him or not. Judgement isn't about Him judging you for your wrong doings... Its more so that we cause our judgemen when we decide to choose Him or not. Like any gentlemen... is it right for Him to force His love on us? Or should it be our choice to receive His love and love Him in return?
4) Now I'm curious. You recognize all the evils in the world. Where do you base your rights and wrongs? Who says its wrong to murder someone... why is it wrong to steal and to lie... to fight and to lust? Where does your conscience come from? Anyone could say... well "dont do that... its just not right" "Why is it not right? I think its right so I'll do it anyway" why do people inately know right from wrong... why do people love? Why do we have a conscience... how did molecules and cells know that we need to feel emotions in order to truly live?
5) I have to admit. When I take a silent moment and look at my surroundings... I'm overwhelmed by so many things. First of how intricately everything is made. If I came from a random cell... why aren't more producing random people out of no where... if we are descendants of apes... why aren't more apes transforming into humans? I look at paintings and know that painting didn't pop out of nowhere or transformed from a paintbrush into a work of art... I know there is an artist who created it. Just like how I see the world.
I'm also overwhelmed by the amount of evil in this world. The hate that seems to grow more and more... Do you truly believe with the path we are living that we'd survive 50 billion more years? If that were the case and there was no God... how sad a world this would be to live in. No hope at all...
6) Even you, being as intelligent as you are, MUST realize that Christianity is not a blind religion. We base our faith and knowledge on History and testimonies that have passed down. There are many historical evidences that back up the bible, and because of its great importance it is DIRE that the information is as little corrupted as possible. Why do you think so many men work to translate the bible in a language. Because error isn't allowed.
I could see why wouldn't want to believe in a God. That means they have to "change their life" and follow rules. Its not about that... when one comes to believe in God... they follow out of their love for Him and their lives change without them realizing it. Its a desire to change... but I guess everyone's comfort zone is the hardest to get out of.
7) It's late and I have work in the morning. I wanted to mention that I'm glad we can have intelligent conversations instead of hostile ones. I hope you have a blessed day tomorrow and you'll be in my prayers. I'm Anna btw. :) Goodnight!

I never said that Jesus was
*Too anybody joining this discussion... it is exactly that, we are not dogging each others beliefs, simply having food for thought - and nice it is to chat about things from both sides of the fence - thank you*
I never said that Jesus was used as a subject to striking fear into people by the Romans at all, you misread what I said.
I do believe as do many others who from a scientific and evolutionary believing background that Jesus was a leader of a revolution, and uprising against a Roman and maybe a Judean ideology that was causing discontent in the peoples of Judea and beyond at the time.
He was cast out by the very society that he was part of because he would not conform to their standards, so went into the hills in search of an army. Which he found, and turned on the Roman/Judan alliance.
For which he was eventually caught with his men and executed. Eventually.
As for the Bible... surely you can see that the very writings of this book have changed over time, the concept is the same, but has been transformed from the scripture that was written many moons ago.
In fact virtually every King or Queen of England before 1700 had their ideas on what was right and wrong and had things changed as did King James.
If you compare a bible from every century since the book was originally written you would virtually not even recognise it.
Ok the people are the same but the stories have changed dramatically.
As for prophecies, how many times is the world going to end before they get it right?
The Jehovah's Witnesses have had the World ending with virtually every crisis the world has seen since they were formed. But yet the fellowship always believes what they are being told.
I honestly do not understand how people can be misled so many times yet still believe... do you?
i cannot wrap my head around the day of Judgement, as the only time i feel Judgement Day will come is when we finally destroy ourselves with nuclear weapons or when the world is swallowed up by the sun in about 5 billion years or so. Or if we have dramatic global natural event.
If evolution did not happen then what are the fossils of dinosaurs and bones from our evolutionary ancestors?
These are very real i can tell you because I have found them myself and anybody saying to me that they were put there as a trick is plainly non compus mentus, and as my friend once said to me that they had been put there as a trick who is deeply religious - was a deeply misguided theory.
I mean come on have you ever seen the size of some of these amazing bones and fossils, and to hide them so well in the ground so deep down all around the world would have taken an engineering feat so amazing it baffles the brain.
So what are the dinosaurs?
The Christian religion goes back 2000 years or so AD 33, but is actually based on a religion that preceeds it by another 3000 years. the teachings of the Old Testament...
As for the Islamic faith... well don't get me started on that... that is another prophet that was a war mongerer who was basically trying to keep as much of the old Europe and the islamic nations together in the face of the Christian Crusades... again another arguement to the fact of my God is better than yours and 'I am' right principle that has caused so many wars over the centuries.
By all means follow religion and be peaceful, but don't go starting a fight in the name of it... Love thy neighbor isn'y it? Funnily enough conveniently written in Old English! (I know it does sound better than when it is said in the Hebrew dialect)
You throw up a great debate Stranger... one that I no doubt you find very attractive to your needs, and you find comforting. I have seen way too much of this world to accept that a God will sit back and allow the things to go just go on. This does not give me faith... I refuse to accept that a child being murdered or a family being blown up by a suicide bomber is testament to a challenge of humanity by God... that is just an excuse to hide the fact that we are a sick and twisted race 'Homo Sapien'... it's shameful and even the former American President George Bush, shamefully stated that 'we will endeavor to fight for freedom of the people of the world... because we are governed by a greater almighty God... Shameful excuse to continue warring against another religion who will never give in to christianity because it dates back to the crusades... hundreds of years!
The crusades never ended... Islamic extremists want to rule the world and destroy the infidel religions and people.
The Crusaders believe that the Islamic faith has no right to exist in its heretic form. As do the Muslims hate Jews.
We will continue down this path of hate and vengence until the world ends. It is sad really don't you think?
(Hey on a slightly thought provoking note: Our conversation is pretty much the basis on how wars start - disagreement and radical rhetoric)

Well I'd have to disagree
Well I'd have to disagree with some of these ideas. Firstly, the bible isn't written by one person... (unlike the Quran) It is a series of letters written by many different men. How is it that men, in different years, are able to write about the same events (as seen in the gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John)? How is it that men are able to prophesy and many events have already came true throughout history and none has been proven wrong?
Do you trust the writings of Aerostotle and Plato? Did you know that the actual amounts of copies of their writings are in the hundreds or even fewer. Yet each book of the bible had thousands upon thousands of copies yet is looked at as "a fairytale". You acknowledge that Jesus existed, as does MANY historians, yet you suggest the Romans made Him a storytale to put fear into men? When Jesus preached mercy to those who came to Him... when He wasn't a powerful man but a lowly shephard? It doesn't make sense at all...
Secondly, the bible isn't about God striking men down when they do "wrong"... it's actually quite the opposite. The Pharisees and the Sadducees were men who were all about upholding the law to the letter. They were the ones who believed that every disformity on man was a cause of the Lord's punishment for a sin they must have committed... but Jesus did NOT commend them at all. In fact, His teaching was that the law was meant to guide men to Him. It was meant so that man wouldn't "perfect" themselves but that they'd see themselves in the horrid condition they're in, come to Christ, and repent.
On the topic of mercy. YES Jesus Christ is merciful, but He gives you that opportunity now. He's merciful to those who not only repent with their lips but to those who repent with their heart. There are a lot of "Christians" in this world who say they are Christian because they "believe in God & Jesus" yet that doesn't necessarily mean they are saved.
"You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder." -James 2:19
Repentance leads to coming to Christ, Who is the One that saves.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." -Romans 6:23
Now for when Christ comes, when its "too late" I'm talking about the day of Judgement. When AFTER you've already heard the gospel of Christ and choose to deny Him it would be "too late"... bare with me... this next verse is a doozy but well worth the read if you're ACTUALLY curious about it... (keep in mind the sheep are His followers and goats are the ones who do not follow)
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." -Matthew 25:31-46
Now looking back at all this... how the bible is not so much a "fairytale" but more so a historical book, why is it so hard to believe that you and I... being so intricately designed... was fashioned by a greater being (God). Is it because man tries so hard to "understand" everything. Other than all the facts I DO know about the bible, its not even what brings me to God... but I have FAITH in it. Like people put their faith in themselves these days...
Anywho I have to get ready for church but I'd like to know how you took this all. Ttyl :)

The infamous Stranger
Ah... Now then...
My thoughts...
IF Jesus did come back and this notion of "It is too late" were to be played out, then the very idea of "I's too late" would go against everything the Bible teaches regarding forgiveness.
Is it not true that a murder who is placed in the chair is given his last rights and offered forgiveness from "The Lord"?
So IF Jesus was to castigate people for believing "too late" then those very words mean that everything you , I or anybody was taught about forgiveness is very deceiving indeed.
As for my views regarding "Jesus" coming back... You might find a book called "Chariots of the Gods" very interesting - basically an offering of: maybe the Gods and prophets throughout time could have been from a distant planet.
I am a great thinker... i have many different scenarios playing out within my humble brain.
What if... the "Gods" are aliens: (as in the TV series' Stargate principle basically) and came here doing there little experiments.
Maybe Adam and Eve were actually the first correctly "Modified" beings to be placed onto Earth after the aliens messed around with the DNA of Neanderthal!
I do not doubt that Jesus actually existed... I just think the journey of a man who would be king is portrayed a little wrong in the great book.
What we have to remember is back 2000 plus years ago people were very backwards... we had been scared sitff of thunder saying that "God is punishing us". The only real Police Force would have been corrupt Roman soldiers, the armies of Greece, Persia, Germania, the English were still being trounced by all manner of Vikings, Picts, Romans etc.
A very good way of policing people would be to put the fear of "Gods" into them.
I mean come on... if you had been thinking of stealing an apple then you may think differently if you thought God may strike you with lightening and send you to Hell... a notion still striking fear into people now.
Religion is a principle based on fear before acceptance... a man may come up to you in the street and offer you his love and support in return you must accept 'God' into your life.
Ouch... isn't that bribery?
Why couldn't he offer love, support and compassion without chastising you into believing in something.
That is why we see a lot of ill feeling towards our fellow man.
You see Muslims doing it, christians, catholics, Jews, Pagens... all of them with the same ideology that their 'word' is right!
This is why we are NEVER going to have peace on this humble little planet of ours.
Onto aliens believing in religion...
I believe that anyone that has the technology to get here from 100 light years away would think the very principle of religion as prehistoric. The very principle of travelling through the stars is based on principles and theories challenged by men of the cloth or robes.
Although there are persons in the church who do look to the 'heavens' and have a scientifc priinciple, these people are challenging the very fundemental principle in which they have been taught. I really don't know why they do this... I have thought and speculated and come up with the anser that they have to question their faith for some reason.
I very much doubt that aliens would believe in religion - unless these beings are those who came to our planet and professed to being our superiors from a time long ago. In which case one could understand why we have religion today.
What I mean is that even in this day and age if an alien came to our planet, there would be people who would believe they are Gods. Thus would base an entirely new religion on them.
I can understand how a person would admire and respect something of such power, but I myself would not see them as Gods, only as an amazing part of our evolutionary process.
But that is the real beauty of this planet and life... we are all different, we all have our challenges and our thoughts. We all love, we all breath, we all have our parts to play... it is how we choose to accept our lives and bring it to the fore.
Without those in religion who challenged the murderers, the thieves, the war mongerers and so on in our planets history, we would not have the planet we have today - I do not know that if we didn't have religion whether or not the planet would be a better place... but from religion we formed authority and without authority we would pretty much be screwed!

LOL
Haha welllllll lets see... first of all, thats a VERY interesting question o_O
Secondly, I think that IF there were any aliens, then I'm not sure they'd actually acknowledge "religion" per se but they would be able to acknowledge God since He is the creator of the universe. ^_^
"In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe." -Hebrews 1:1-2
Now lets see... my turn. If the definition of an alien was a foreign being from another place... maybe even a stranger in some cases... then I guess you COULD say that if Jesus were to come back (which He will :D) as a stranger to you, would you be able to acknowledge HIM? And what would you do if you realized that He was real but it was too late? You wouldn't be able to say that "it isn't fair" especially when so many opportunities are presented to you... like now.
"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is." -Ephesians 5:15-17
Anywho that HAS to be the funniest yet thought provoking questions I've ever heard! :P What do you think about it??
-Sincerely yours,
The infamous Stranger
I would like to ask you a
I would like to ask you a question or two that may pose a dilema, I don't know...
If alien were to come to Earth how would you percieve this?
Do you think aliens would acknowledge religion?
These are serious questions for you, please be as open and honest as you can :)
And certainly any time!

Thanks!
Well it was very refreshing to hear your views! Although of course, like you i'm pretty strong in my beliefs as well. I can see where you are coming from. Sometimes I hear myself speaking and think to myself... wow if I wasn't a Christian, I'd think I was crazy lol. I do, however, trust that the Bible is legit. Some think of it as a "fairytale" book but sadly never look at it themselves to distinguish it for themselves.
Do you look at a history book as if all the facts are lies? The information is true... based on ancient scripts written for the reader to understand. Just because it has been rewritten many times doesn't mean that the facts are wrong. Specially if its based on the original text... which in the case of the bible would be Greek. And going back to Christianity as a made up religion... pshh lol if I were to EVER create a religion, I'd make it where all I had to do is please my "god" with my works... because that would be MUCH easier to do than what a Christian is called to do. You may have met so many hypocritical Christians or even other religions, but that doesn't change its point. People will never be perfect (although if you notice how we function and all our parts seem to have been created for our use perfectly...)
Anywho sorry to have gone off the topic lol. I tend to do that only because I have so much information that I'd love to share! There are so many things I could back up in the case of Christianity, or even JUST the bible. But I wont bore you with that unless you'd like it :)
I'm glad to have had a nice conversation with you! If you ever would like to have another one, please don't hesitate. I too wouldn't mind hearing more of your side ^_^
