People seem to think because sex is involved in a rape, that that's what rape is about. Not true! Rape is about a violent assault on someone which just happens to include non-consentual sex.

Unfortuntaely, too many people still think that if a woman flirts with a man, or is wearing a sexy dress, she deserved to be raped. How ignorant is that? If that was true rapes would be legal on every beach in the world. I mean women as well as everyone else are walking around in bathing suits, which only cover a small portion of the body. Also, if it's about some guy being teased and seduced by what he sees, then why are elderly women and children raped as well? Exactly, what a woman says, does, or wears has nothing to do with being raped!

We must realize that our archaic beliefs about rape are way outdated. Again, rape is about violence, hatred, anger and control. A rapist is a very mentally ill person, who needs help far beyond what most counselors could ever give them. I'm not really sure a rapist can ever truly be rehabilitated.

Try to remember rapists are very sick individuals who will rape regardless of what anyone does or doesn't do. Most importantly to remember, is that those who are raped are never at fault, whether it be a young woman in a sexy dress, an elderly woman in a rocking chair, or a child in it's crib. The rapist is at fault, and no one else, ever!
