Re-defining Angels

Ethereal...
Like everyone else in this world, I have always imagined angels to be ethereal, winged, and blindingly beautiful. Over the years and most recently, I have had to revise my previous understanding and come up with a new definition. While I believe that the wings, etherealism, and blindingly beautiful part still stands for the biblical Archangels like Gabriel, Michael, Samiel.....I think that the common ordinary variety may be just that...common and ordinarary, in effect, I think they are us!
My recent story is this: I went to HEB the other day. As I was parking and getting my purse in hand before exiting my truck, a little old lady had parked next to me, got out ahead of me and walked to the store's entrance. I had taken my time, got out, and noticed she left her car running!! She was too far ahead of me to shout at or catch up to so I walked to the entrance also, keeping an eye on her car, grabbed one of the bag boys and told him what had happened. He ran to get her. She came back, where I still stood, keeping an eye on her car, and thanked me for letting her know. As she said, "someone would have had a GREAT Christmas driving off in my car". Too true. Now, while I chuckled at her age-related forgetfullness and hoped that there was a son or daughter who would realize mom is getting too old to drive herself places if she's gonna pull stunts like that, I also realized that had I not decided to go to HEB first instead of the video store, someone could have stolen her car.
I wondered at the reason why things happen as they do, why fate is so mysterious, and came to the conclusion that on my way into the parking lot, I had been tapped by one of those busy Archangels into service. I imagine a little voice that my conscious mind couldn't hear, but my subconscious did, whispered to me to park where I did, and notice the other car still runnning. The voice knew I would do the right thing.
My new definition of angels is simple; They are the right people, in the right place, at the right time, who choose to do the right thing. That was my "Angel Service" moment. I hope it cancels out all my Devilish moments! You think?
God bless.....hope everyone is having a good day. It's absolutely beautiful outside! Go out and soak up a little sunshine and let the wind tickle your face.
