The House Financial Services Committee is the group within the U.S. House of Representatives that has been involved in drafting the financial bailout measure to rescue banks and other financial institutions in the economic crisis of September 2008. You can find links below to the text of the bailout bill and to a summary of the bill, which is formally known as the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008.

The House Financial Services Committee (Web site: www.financialservices.house.gov), chaired by Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts, addresses issues relating to banks and banking, insurance, securities, economic stabilization, and international finance.

The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives is Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California (Web site: www.speaker.gov).
