Recipe-Fish Dishes Striped Sea Bream
posted October 1, 2009 - 11:52amStriped Sea Bream is gray and silver in color with several vertical stripes on its side which have earned the bream the nickname 'sea tiger'. It is without doubt one of the tastiest fish from the Aegean Sea. It is not a deep water fish and rarely swims at depths of over 50 metres. Its usual habitat is sandy sea beds or seaweed beds close to the shore. The bream is a fish that is not so plentiful in its natural habitat because it has been over fished by local fishermen. It normally can grow to a length of half a metre and weigh a hefty 3 to 4 kilos, but now you are lucky if you can buy a bream weighing more than a kilo and bigger than 15cm in length. Except of course if you happen to buy fish farmed bream.
