Red FM : Red faced after Offensive remarks to Indian Idol 3
posted October 3, 2007 - 2:39amSoon after the Indian Idol 3 was declared to be Prashant Tamang, there was great jubiliation and celebrations in Darjeeling. But, they soon turned into violent protests when a radio RJ in Delhi FM radio made an offensive remark on air that did not sit well with the Gurkha community.
The agitation has the country up in arms and has forced the government to take action against the offending Radio Station. The Government has now recommended the station be banned for a week.
"Red FM aired a morning show last week that made disparaging remarks about Indian Idol winner Prashant Tamang's roots. It sparked riots in parts of the Northeast and a curfew in Siliguri. After issuing a show-cause notice that prompted Red FM to clarify there was "no intentional or deliberate offence meant in the remarks" the ministry has recommended a week-long ban for the station."
Poor Prashant! I wonder if he is truly enjoying the fruits of his labor!
