reggie bush arrives!

it's tough coming into the nfl as a rookie. it's tougher coming into the nfl as a heisman/doak walker/walter camp winner. while reggie bush has been good thus far into his rookie season... today, he showed a glimpse of what the future promises to hold in store for this young man.

he tied a saints franchise record w/ four touchdowns.
he stepped in to pick up the receiving slack left by the first-quarter injury (well... re-injury) to stalwart joe horn.
he quadrupled his career rushing td totals & scored his first-ever receiving td.
he broke the century-mark in receiving yards, helped by breaking a short pass into a 74-yard-gain, setting up his 4th touchdown. although he's had two 100+ total yards games already this year, this is his first (of many to come?) time breaking 100 yards in either category.

but most of all... he finally showed the mad skills at the pro level that garnered him such accolades in college.

&, of course, he didn't do it alone... deuce mcallister had another monster day on the ground (135 yards); mike mckenzie had two HUGE momentum-snuffing interceptions; & the saints d held sf's gonna-be frank gore to only 40 yards rushing & only 68 total yards.

welcome to the show, mr bush.

it's a good day to be a saints fan!

i'll take that too...

hell, yes! i'll take that superbowl. although if it's true that defense wins championships (& i've long believed that it's true), then chicago-baltimore seems a natural. final score... 2-0 on a ray lewis safety! this might just be a good year for chicago sports fans. ben wallace is a bull. denis savard is behind the blackhawk bench. the bears are looking to regain their superbowl form (ah... the superbowl shuffle...). & the cubs? well... we all love the cubs. another year or two & people might be able to dust off their old chicago uniforms & gear that ain't white sox related.

or maybe not...

predictions...

I guess I have to make some predictions of my own now... The NFC Championship game will be Chicago and New Orleans, yup this is a bold one here and I'll be the first to admit that I could be way off here... I'm not sure why but Lovie Smith's press confrence put me at ease. They are 10-2 and have clinched a spot. So, what's next for them, get Rex a shred of confidence! The Saints have to make it here, because they are a fun offensive team to watch. Just wait till they get Horn and Colston back to full health! Rex throws three picks and the Bears still win 21-7 (Special teams and 2 defensive TD's for the Bears). As for the Cowboys not making it, I think that Martin Gramatica will doom them... Yup, some freak old man injury will take him out and a kicker's going to screw Parcells over again! muhuahaha! In the AFC Championship I've got San Diego and Baltimore... San Diego takes this game, in this rematch Rivers has his handcuffs completely off... In the first game he only threw 22 times the whole game, that won't happen this time around. LT will not be held to 98 yards rushing like their first meeting! Final score SD 24 BAL 17... There you have it San Diego and Chicago in the Superbowl...

just to clarify...

in a mad rush of picking coaches to lead their teams to the superbowl... i seem to have officially xombacked bill parcells to lead t.o. & the cowboys back to the promised land. & while i'm not backing down from that as such... i just don't wanna have to explain myself should my saints knock them out. it's a lowdown dirty SHAME that my saints have never been to the promised land. so a hale & hearty handshake to their rookie head coach, sean payton. especially after i learned that he was one of those college greats who wound up playing up here in the cfl before he finally got his single season of nfl playing experience. 10, 000+ passing yards in college... 3-time all-american... & he can't hold a clipboard in the nfl? still, he played for my beloved & lamented ottawa rough riders (who are no longer... again..) so i'll claim him as one of my own. i'm dreaming of a chargers-saints superbowl, but i'll settle for chargers-cowboys. even though i HATE the cowboys, being an old-time joe montana fan from way back... but i don't consider myself a 49ers fan anymore, especially since i learned that they're moving out of san fransisco???? whaaaaa??? oh, & i'll also settle for the bengals... or i suppose i could live with the colts or the ravens out of the afc. anyone but the broncos, chiefs, jets & patriots, really...

or maybe not...

Good ol Reggie

I watched that game too... He was quite impressive as he made the defense look foolish. Isn't it funny how there was such a wide range of expectations for this guy!?! He could've had 2,000 all purpose yards with 20 TD's over the season or he could get 500 yards and one TD and nobody would've been that surprised... Another factor in his slow start may have been the ankle that's bothered him all year, Sure didn't look like he had anymore problems with it today! Today all he did was break ankles!

Reggie Bush

Reggie Bush is talented and everyone knew that. I'm sure the Houston Texans know that now. The Saints are a team that will probably get in the playoffs as a wild card. Whether they get far depends on how well they play then and who they get paired up against. They are a team that will get better as the years go by. I'm sure many free agents to be are look their way and want to be a part of that team. So look out!!!
