Remember, You are Your Child's First and BEST Teacher of All, Not Baby Einstein
posted August 13, 2007 - 9:11amAre Baby DVDs and videos actually BAD for your kids? Well, this study seems to suggest that. However, it doesn't seem that it is the DVDs and videos alone, but that human interaction is required for a child's brain to develop to fuller capacity. This study seems to support the idea that people were not meant to be alone without any human interaction. We all need each other. Babies don't need the t.v. and DVD player, they need us. I don't think Ms. Julie Aigner-Clark would even disagree with the findings in these studies. After all, most of her ads and promotions for Baby Einstien products strongly urged parents to use these products ALONG with their children, not leave the children alone to watch them. They are a favorite of mine when I need to get cleaned up, and the children are already up and about. I try to take a bath so that they can come around to me and talk with me about the video as it's playing, and not just sit them in front of the t.v. CHILDREN NEED HUMAN INTERACTION, AND WE THE PARENTS (AND GRANDPARENTS, AND AUNTS AND UNCLES, AND CAREGIVERS) ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN THEIR LIVES.
