Renga 1

All to her rising
responds: goddess, yawning, breathes
over sun-touched fields,

tide rushes in, leaves seaweed
fine as silk hair, skeletal

remains of shell, fish,
salt blown into shadowed woods,
roosters, robins rise,

and in the distance--struggle,
mouth moon-wide and moaning: birth.
