Rental Movie Review: RV
posted October 30, 2006 - 11:30amWhen you give Robin Williams enough film, he won't dissapoint. Barry Sonnefeld knows how much film to give "Mork".
While RV seems to have died at the box office, the DVD has hit rental shelves and shouldn't gather much dust. Appealling to the family crowd that doesn't have time nor funds to invest in a piece that just resembles their everyday lives, it's no wonder this film had a short-lived box office run.
But as one of the family members who relies on Hollywood Video to bring peace to the household, three movies at a time through their MVP program, this release provides a gut laugh a minute.
Using Williams incredibly vast humor resource and improv, he carries this believable premise from the opening scene to the surpising ending. Joined in his journey by Cheryl Hines and his two kids, Joanna 'JoJo' Levesque and
Josh Hutcherson, they create a believable, middle-class rat race chasing the wants of life. That is until Williams has to pull a "sleight of hand" and transform a Dream Vacation into a clandestine "working road trip" in a rented RV.
Using slapstick and pointed wit, the laughs never get choreagraphed nor worn out.
It's worth the price of rental at your favorite movie store and will soon be on my "you could always buy me this for Christmas" list.
I'd give it more than two thumbs up, if I had more thumbs.
