If you are thinking of visiting China, Nanjing is a lovely city to visit. Situated on the middle reaches of the Yangtze River it is about a 2 and a half hour train ride from Shanghai. There are many tourist attractions in Nanjing. Purple Mountain is close to the city and easily accessed from the Taipingmen area on the south eastern side of the Xuanwu Lake. The cable car takes you to the summit of Purple Mountain.
