The Road by Cormac McCarthy is my #1 favorite book and I wasn't thrilled when I found out that it was about to be a movie with Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron. In my mind, there was no way Hollywood could ever portray the blacks/grays of horror that I envisioned in my mind with special effects.

But...the movie trailer is now out and after watching it and recognizing that key plot elements were intact and that Viggo seems to be able to pull off his character with credibility, I might change my mind and watch the film.

The Road is such a gripping novel that you need to put it on your must-read list. I was horrified that somewhere in McCarthy's mind was such a messed-up portrayal of a post-apocalyptic world and its effects on remaining humanity. But also glad that he shared it. It's a masterpiece on paper.
