Word's out that Mel Gibson's wife, Robyn Gibson, has recently filed for divorce. They were married for 28 years. 28 years! What a shame. When marriages last that long, it's particularly sad when they go pear-shaped. (plus marriages don't tend to last that long these days in the increasingly-erratic celebrity world)

Anyway, don't ask me why but Robyn apparently signed the divorce papers the day before Good Friday and filed them on Easter Monday. Couldn't she have waited til after Easter? It's like being dumped the day before Christmas, or the day before Valentine's Day. It's not very nice, is it?

I shouldn't be too quick to judge her though. Maybe it was that unbearable for her. Maybe she really couldn't stand another hour with Mel, let alone a day.

Here's hoping the divorce settlement's not drawn-out and messy.
