Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, which grossed $115 million in its first week, is not longer the only kid on the block nor possibly even the best. Harmonix, which sold the Guitar Hero franchise to Activision in 2006, has just launced Rock Band just in time for Christmas.

While most fans of the genre are more familiar with the Guitar Hero name, MTV, which owns Harmonix, is hoping that people will be more loyal to the creator than to what was created.
