In 2007, Rockstar Games settled a class action lawsuit which made several allegations about the Hot Coffee modification for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. As a result of the settlement, any US citizen who was “offended and upset” by the ability to unlock this hidden minigame can now claim up to $35 in compensation.

In order to benefit from the program, claimants must submit an original store receipt, proof of purchase of the game (the barcode from the game box), their original disc or a credit card/check statement which shows payment for the game. The amount which will be paid will depend on the method chosen to make a claim.

Additionally, Rockstar Games will replace, free of charge, any user’s game disc and will pay for carriage of the disc both from the customer to the company and for the shipping of a new disc to the customer.

Full details on the program are now available from the new GTASettlement.com website. Claimants have until May 18, 2008 to submit their applications.
