Rodeo Cowboy...Dream Job

Rodeo Cowboy...Dream Job

A dusty and dry Sunday afternoon with a clear blue sky so high and pure as if heaven's doors have opened up. Magestically towering so bright like a spot light on me, the sun shines down to better illuminate the eyes of the world upon these dirt covered boots, the sweat band of this rugged ten gallon hat and the gleam splashing off the point of each spur. This beast’s strength is undeniable however I claw desperately for every inch barely hanging on, and just as I find a firm clamp with these cold and withered yet unwavering hands, the thundering impact from its kickback sends shockwaves clear across the horizon and like a lightening bolt from Zeus himself, it trumps the earth leaving me petrified and alone with the fear of landing on my back.

My eyes turn black and the crowd grows silent, and if the time clock would move, I pray it reads zero, zero, eight. Faintly, I hear my beautiful wife Gabi’s teardrops streaming down her rosy cheeks, the dreadful trembling in her lips as she holds on to my daughter, Simone Elizabeth. She is too young to know that daddy is crazy but she will forever be my favorite memory to carry into the next life, but this is the choice I made to be the King of the World, nevertheless I'm getting ready for the end of my world.

Before I know it, I am talking to the angels and they help me recall the way my father was always on the road while we work the farm alone for months on end, and I always told myself I would not be like him. But just as all other fool hearted men in this world, a simple minded person full of pride and a pocket with holes as big as my dreams, the pretty girl changed my mind. She wanted a ring, and shoveling hay wasn’t gonna get-er done like winning the gold buckle. This is the life of a Rodeo champion, but first, I have to stay on this bull for seven more seconds.

Instantly, time begins to wind up and the crowd’s amplified as the animal turns back into my hands and just as fast as I was almost bucked off. No Fear. I’m on, with a full blown grip and nothing will drag me off because I have the Lord on my side making my dreams come true. Just as the buzzer goes off, the thoughts sweep across my face Soaking up the summer breeze and I can see the beauty of this heartland from the eyes of a rodeo cowboy kicking back with my family. Now that’s my dream job.
