Role Models?

Role Models?

They are considered to be role models by the society and millions of kids aspire to be like them. I am talking about Shah Rukh Khan and Sachin Tendulkar. Both great icons of their chosen fields, Cinema and Cricket.

So what do their kids look forward to. Khali. That's right. The Indian contribution to the WWE. And what's more appalling is that their parents and our kids' role models, endorse it. Recently after Khali returned from a tour both Shah Rukh Khan and Sachin Tendulkar invited Khali for their respective kids to meet and see him in person. Is that all they could think of? There are so many other greats in India and abroad. They think of Khali and the media grabs it. This shows the shallowness which pervades the great icons or perceived role models of this country. Goes to prove, that making money alone is not a sign of greatness, and our media should stop glorifying such people.

WWE promotes violence. Period. And it is stupid to expose kids to such play acted violence especially when they are trying to pass it off as real. If that was not enough we have the biggest stars of this country endorsing it. I wonder how many kids, after reading the great fortune of SRK and Sachin's kids, wanted to be in their shoes.

Sympathy for the Devil Known as "the WWE"

I can't say for sure that the WWE's 'never gone too far.' But I haven't ever seen them inflict violence on anyone who wasn't in on the game, I'm sure they would pay for it (with exponential bonus profit-interest) if they ever did harm someone outside the game, and I've written that their actions are most-often a testament to the human power to heal---whenever you see one of the wrestlers beaten to a bloody pulp, you can rest assured that he'll be back in the game in a week or two! You feel it's harmful for children to idolize WWE-wrestlers, I agree. Just like it's wrong to idolize the products of warmongery we call "soldiers." According to the Twelve Links of Causation, you could say that 'life' causes 'suffering.' But 'life' also causes joy; 'suffering' comes as evil-doers withdraw that joy and hoard it from public view.
