Ronald Reagan's Legacy

Ronald Reagan's Legacy

point

As a president, Ronald Reagan inspired the Average Joe in the U.S. with confidence, especially after the trials of inflation. As soon as he stepped into office, hostages being held in Iran were allowed to step back onto American soil.

So, it was a shock that he was targeted for an assassination attempt in 1981 by John Hinckley, Jr. People had hardly had enough time to know Reagan as a president, but even if they didn't know him they generally appreciated his charisma.

How do you rate Reagan's presidency? Do you think that he improved the nation or sapped it of its strength?

One of the Good Things about Old-School Media: Not Much Scandal

We can look and appreciate what Reagan gave America. When we look at what might've gone wrong back then, we don't have to blame it on his human life.

That is why professional journalists have to pre-notify people when their names are mentioned in reports; because print-journalism is the proverbial 'writing in stone' for people of this age—if a reporter caught Mr. President peeing in the bushes behind the stadium and wrote that into a report, Mr. President–no matter how many wonderful things he has done–will always be 'remembered' as "President Peeing-in-the-Bushes."

That "notification of name-use"-stipulation is the only reason I'm glad these blogs aren't thought-of as "professional journalism" ... oh, the content can be made "professional" by hypertext links verifying various interpretations; but any who do anything in the public eye must do so without shame ("shame" only being used–if at all–in deciding whether or not to do the thing in the first place).

I haven't specifically studied Reagan's presidency; I can only suppose that he followed/helped-make the rules the way they are now, as all Presidents are to be remembered as doing.

If that's not a call to IMPEACH DUBYA, I don't know what is!... not that I care, but c`est la vie.
