I have 4 beautiful rose bushes that had gotten too big and heavy with roses that the limbs were breaking. They stood about 7 feet high. I didn't want to cut them but they were just getting too big.
I asked around and went online to get advice and did not like what everyone was saying. That was to cut them back to just three of the biggest stems.
It was like cutting my daughters long beautiful hair for the first time.
I was getting new roses every day and almost all year long. I decided to go ahead and do it. I started cutting until they looked like dead branches, not one leaf was on any of them.

To my surprise they started growing again, slow at first (because I was watching them every day).
Within a year they were big again and much healthier and about 8 feet.

Another tip I received was to cut the spent roses back to the first leaf and I will have more roses. It works. I will have pics soon.

resizing the pics

I will be resizing the pics of the roses shortly, I didn't realize they were so small until I finished. Sorry
