Exactly

Like most people (I believe), there are things about both parties I like and things I dislike. I believe in being financially conservative but being liberal socially. So, unless the RNC finds inroads they will be left out until 2010. And they are risking that be not getting in. If the Dems are successful for whatever reason - the RNC is dead. The reality of the stimulus package was that it was passing whether or not the Reps got on board or not. How is the Reb agenda going to progress if they do not find common ground? wHATUP... I would rather

wHATUP... I would rather have the Republican Party move away from the Democrats than join them. They have tried to be like the Democrats and work with them for the last 8 years (at least domestically), and we see how that worked out. We cannot spend our way into oblivion and expand the size and power of the federal government. Hopefully, Steele will drill that into the heads of his colleagues. I liked the vote on the stimulus this week. It's an atrocious bill that needs to be completely scrapped. There is no need whatsoever for massive spending from the government. We need tax cuts and deregulation. No, it is not deregulation that has caused the decline in our markets. It was too much government involvement/mandates with housing and loans and not enough oversight of quasi-government institutions like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. And our ridiculous amount of debt, both public and private, certainly didn't help. As long as this "stimulus" bill stays as it is, there shouldn't be a single politician voting for it. But it's impossible to ask a Democrat to not spend someone else's money, so it will pass eventually - even though the country is turning largely against it. Sooner or later the voters will understand that Democrats are in this to help their friends and their own wallets/careers. Then the tides will turn and we will elect Republicans again. And eventually they will do the same. It's a vicious cycle, isn't it? Who is Publius? Join Xomba and get PAID to write - CLICK HERE!

Is that a word?

"I misremembered (is that a word?) my articles." It may be a word if you're George Bush; he was well known for using "misunderestimated."

ah, yes

You are correct - I misremembered (is that a word?) my articles. Visit my homepage here

Re: Israel

"I really wouldn't say that Israel has free/open elections. For better or worse, they are open only to the Jewish." Not true... There are quite a few Arabs who are citizens of Israel. There are Arab political parties too (who else but Arabs would vote for them?), but these parties have apparently been banned for the upcoming election.

Israel

I really wouldn't say that Israel has free/open elections. For better or worse, they are open only to the Jewish. Other than that, I liked the run down - Daschle is an idiot. I personally was hoping for some else for the RNC. I believe they need to go in a new direction and no I don't know what that direction is. Don't you think we need some one who is going to work with the Democrats? The Dems have already proven they don't need the Repubs to push though their platform. I believe it was a huge mistake for the House Rep to vote down party lines on the stimilus vote because now there will be little if any effort to bring Republicans into the fold. That might work for the RNC for now but for the nation, I believe we need the voice of both parties. Visit my homepage here
