-3. How Fishing Works-
Jagex recently updated (November 14, 2002) the mining and
fishing systems. The mining and fishing
systems now have
fatigue. What this means is, over time, your character will
become too tired to mine/fish. When you reach your fatigue
rate, you can eat food to decrease the percentage of fatigue
(usually one or two fishes will decrease one point) or rest
in a bed. To rest in a bed, you just need to left-click on
the bed and your character will say "Zzzz" "Zzzz" and you
will feel fully rested and ready to mine/fish again.
If your mining/fishing is a high level, you will be able to
mine/fish for longer periods of time than lower level
miners/fishers. For example, a level 30 fisher may get too
tired to fish around level 40% fatigue, while a level 86
fisher may get too tired to fish around 89% fatigue (This
example is not accurate). No matter what level mining/fishing
you are, you will be able to fill up your inventory faster
when mining/fishing. This system works well for miners, as
there are beds nearby, but for fishers, particularly in the
fishing guild and on Karamja, it sucks, since there are no
beds nearby. Jagex plans to allow its customers to choose
whether they want to mine/fish using the old system or this
new system. This is a good plan and will allow fishers to be
able to fish again. On F2P, as lobsters/swordfishes can only
be caught on Karamja, it is a complete waste of time and
money to leave the island with around a half load of fishes
to bank and rest on a bed, so bringing back the old system as
a choice is necessary in my opinion.
-4. Fishing Equipment-
There are many types of fishing equipment and they all have
specific level requirements in order to use them. Prices for
equipment depend on many of that certain item are in stock.
For example, if there are 200 baits in stock, they will cost
3 GPs each. When there are about 6 in stock, they cost about
6 GPs each.
Net: A net allows you to catch Shrimp and Anchovies. It can
be bought for 5 GPs in the Port Sarim Fishing Shop.

Several fishes can be caught at once, including Gloves,
Boots, Caskets, Seaweed, and Oysters. It can be bought for 20
GPs at Harry's Fishing Shack in Catherby.
Oily Fishing Rod*: This fishing rod is created from a special
snail mix and a Harralander herb that is used on a normal
fishing rod on P2P. It is used to fish Lava Eels*, which are
for the Hero's Quest.
Bait: Bait is required to fish with a fishing rod and oily
fishing rod*. It can be bought for 3 GPs in the Port Sarim
Fishing Shop when the stock is full at 200.
Feathers: Feathers are required to fish with a fly-fishing
rod. It can be bought for 2 GPs in the Port Sarim Fishing
Shop when the stock is full at 200.

cooking experience points. It is used for crafting orbs, beer
glasses, and vials.
Oysters*: Oysters give 1 fishing experience point (?) and
can't be cooked. Oyster shells may have pearls in them, and
may not. If you find a shell that does contain pearls, use a
chisel with the shell to make pearl bolt tips. These pearl
bolt tips can then be put on bolts to make pearl bolts. The
power of pearl bolts is equivelant to mithril arrows.
Gloves and Boots only give 1 fishing experience point each.
-6. Types of Pastries-
There are many different types of pastries in the RuneScape
world.
NOTE: Most pizzas and cakes are not one-click food items.
Basically, each time you click on the food item, you eat a
part of it (1/2 of a pizza per click, 1/3 of a cake per
click). These are not good food items to take out into the
wilderness because when you are attacked and retreat to eat,
you have to eat fast. If you eat a swordfish (one-click food
item, heals 14 HP), that should take about a second to eat.
If you eat a pizza or cake (two and three-click food items),
in the time you've clicked two or three times to eat the
item, you could have eaten two or three swordfishes. A
chocolate cake heals 15 HP in three clicks and a pineapple
pizza heals 20 HP in two clicks. A swordfish in two clicks is
28 HP and 42 HP in three clicks. If you have 30 HP left and
eat a whole chocolate cake, you'll heal to 45 HP. If you then
get attacked and get hit with a combo of 20, 24, DEAD...you
made a bad decision of taking cakes out to the wild. If you
had eaten two swordfishes, you would have healed +28 HP; with
30 HP, that's 58 HP. If you got hit with a 20, 24, 5, then
you'd have 9 HP left and you could run. In the cake
situation, even if you had gotten hit by a 1, you would've
died. In the swordfish situation, if you got hit by a 13, you
could have ran. A 14 and you would've been dead, but your
chances were much better with swordfishes. Just a little tip.
Bread: Bread gives 40 cooking experience points. Bread is
made from cooking bread dough. Heals 4 HP.
Stew: Stew gives 90 cooking experience points. Stew is made
from meat, a potato, and a bowl of water. Heals 9 HP.
Curry*: Curry gives 125 cooking experience points. Curry is
made from meat, a potato, a bowl of water, and spice. Heals
19 HP.
Redberry pie: Redberry pies give 60 cooking experience
points. Redberry pies are made from pastry dough, redberries,
and a pie pan. Heals 6 HP total (3 HP per half of the pie).
Meat pie: Meat pies give 80 cooking experience points. Meat
pies are made from pastry dough, cooked meat, and a pie pan.
Heals 8 HP total (4 HP per half of the pie).
Apple pie: Apple pies give 100 cooking experience points.
Apple pies are made from pastry dough, an apple, and a pie
pan. Heals 10 HP total (5 HP per half of the pie).
Pizza: Pizzas give 110 cooking experience points. Pizzas are
made from a pizza base, a tomato, and a cheese. Heals 10 HP
(this is the only pizza that is eaten in one click).
Meat pizza: Meat pizzas give 140 total cooking experience
points (110 for the pizza, 30 for the meat). Meat pizzas are
made from a pizza base, a tomato, a cheese, and meat. Heals
14 HP total (7 HP per half of the pizza).
Anchovie Pizza: Anchovie pizzas give 140 total cooking
experience points (110 for the pizza, 30 for the anchovy).
Anchovie pizzas are made from a pizza base, a tomato, a
cheese, and anchovies. Heals 16 HP total (8 HP per half of
the pizza).
Pineapple Pizza*: Pineapple pizzas give 110 cooking
experience points (110 from the pizza, adding pineapple rings
don't give experience points because you pick the pineapples
off of Pineapple trees in Brimhaven and they don't need to be
cooked). Pineapple pizzas are made from a pizza base, a
tomato, a cheese, and a pineapple ring. Heals 20 HP total (10
HP per half of the pizza).
Cakes: Cakes give 120 cooking experience points. Cakes are
made from a bucket of milk, an egg, a pot of flour, and a
cake tin. Heals 12 HP total (3 HP per slice of the cake;
there are 3 slices).
Chocolate cakes: Chocolate cakes give 120 cooking experience
points. Chocolate cakes are made from a bucket of milk, an
egg, a pot of flour, a cake tin, and a chocolate bar. Heals
15 HP total (5 HP per slice of the chocolate cake; there are
3 slices).
Wine: Wine gives 110 cooking experience points, heals 11 HP,
and subtracts 3 Attack level points temporarily. Wine is made
from a jar of water and grapes.
Bad Wine: You get no cooking experience points for making Bad
wine. Bad wine heals 0 HP but subtracts 3 attack points
temporarily. The result of Bad wine happens to everyone at
some point, just like how everyone burns food sometimes.
Other foods...
Banana: Heals 2 HP. Can be found on Karamja's palm trees or
bought at the Port Sarim Grocery Store.
Cabbage: Heals 1 HP. Can be bought at the Port Sarim Grocery
Store. In Draynor Manor, there are cabbages that taste nicer
and not only heal 1 HP, but add 2 defense levels.
Chocolate bar: Heals 3 HP. Can be found in the Lost City*,
Cooking Guild, or bought at the Port Sarim Grocery Store.
Cheese: Heals 2 HP. Can be found in Draynor Manor Village or
bought at the Port Sarim Grocery Store.
Tomato: Heals 2 HP. Can be found in Draynor Manor Village or
bought at the Port Sarim Grocery Store.
Kebab: Heals HP randomly. Kebabs can heal you or make you
lose HP. They can also add to your combat stats. Can be
bought from the Kebab seller in Al Kharid.
Spinach roll: Heals 2 HP and sometimes it will add 5 strength
levels temporarily. Spinach rolls are dropped by Moss Giants
and can be obtained by Trailborn the Wizard. Before you give
him 25 bones, tell him you are one of the king's knights and
he will offer you a spinach roll.
Beer: Heals 1 HP, +1 strength level, and -2 attack levels.
Can be found on tables near Mountain Dwarves and normal
Dwarves.
Asgarnian Ale: Heals 1 HP, +2 strength levels, and -3 attack
levels. Can be bought in the Falador tavern for 2 GPs.

Can be bought in the Brimhaven bar for 2 GPs.
Tea*: Heals 3 HP, +3 attack levels. Given by Brother Galahad
in The Holy Grail quest.
Pineapple rings*: Heals 2 HP. You get pineapple rings from
pineapples. Pineapples are picked off of Pineapple trees in
Brimhaven (far south). Use a knife with a pineapple to get
four pineapple rings. These can be used to make pineapple
pizzas.
Greenmans Ale*: Heals 1 HP, -5 attack/defense/strength
levels, and +1 herblaw level. Can be bought in the Yanille
bar for 10 GPs.
Dragon Bitter*: Heals 1 HP, -5 attack, and +2 strength
levels. Can be bought in the Yanille bar for 2 GPs.
NOTE: I'm not sure if this only applies to the Greenmans Ale
and Dragon Bitter beers, but the amount of
attack/defense/strength levels you're drained of temporarily
vary by the level of your attack/defense/strength. I had a
friend test the beers for me...he lost 4
attack/defense/strength levels, while I lost 5.
Easter eggs and pumpkins both heal 14 HP each and were
dropped on special holidays.
