Russia boasts nuclear-powered spaceships

Russia is now claiming that as early as 2021, the country could have a nucler-powered spaceship ready to go where no man has gone before.

"The project is aimed at implementing large-scale space exploration programs, including a manned mission to Mars, interplanetary travel, the creation and operation of planetary outposts," said Anatoly Perminov, Russia's space chief.

According to an Associated Press article, Russia already had nuclear-powered satallites and even NASA officials agree this is possible.

The article goes on to state that with NASA set to retire its shuttle fleet in 2010, Russia may soon be the world leader in space travel. Aye, comrade.
