Russia is clearly in the wrong!

Russia is clearly in the wrong. They are attacking Georgia - clearly in areas outside of the conflict zone.

Russians are bombing civilian structures, cities, blocking food and medicine supplies into Georgia and is continually advancing troops into territories of Georgia even though Georgian troops have been holding a ceasefire for the past 48-72 Hours.

This is an act of aggression totally inappropriate for any superpower and violates numerous international treaties, laws and Georgian national sovereignty. It seems Russia wants to make sure Georgian government is overthrown and the territories split up and given independence.

This act by Russia is nothing short of a genocide! So how dare the Russians say the Georgians are committing genocide!

According to Russia, they are in the process of establishing "peace" in the territory of South Ossetia. But how is it that they are establishing this "peace" by bombing Georgian cities and airports (ship yards and military bases also) all across the country - when Georgia is observing a ceasefire???

I do not know who Russia is trying to convince but its clear Russia is clearly in the wrong now.

Russian troops are pushing from from South Ossetia in Georgia and is now outside the town of Gori. Russian forces have also entered Georgia from the breakaway region of Abkhazia. At the same time, Russia is arming the rebels in those regions to engage the Georgian troops and security personnel and then go into Georgian towns to "restore peace."

I think it is time some serious world powers get involved and kick Russian troops out of Georgia and its territories. That land is Georgia's and Georgian people and the government do not want Russia there - so why is Russia trying to enforce "peace?"

I agree with you, Publis

Yes, I would love to see the Russians remove themselves from Georgia, but I don't think thay are going to and i don't think we have the ability to force them to. I know we may have the power to, but I don't think we politically have the right approach yet. What I ment by 'negociating through respect' is that if a country is trying to gain power because of an ingrained desire of national pride, then by threatening them with forcing, may not be in our or their' best interest, it is a form of disrespect that goes against their national pride. Unless a country is small and we can bully then, which i don't condone, it does very little good. Our problem with Russia is that our president has to be very careful because, we can both blow each other of the map and all our families with it, with one push of a button. I believe we are heading into more of theses same situations in the time ahead. Countries are posturing and we are trying to force our will, yet the people of the US are getting tired of seeing their sons and daughters die in foriegn lands. I perfer win-win situations. If we know what the russians truely want, thenwe may be in a place to negotiate with them, since our seemingly 'use of force' tactics may not be the best idea. You can only negotiate with what the other party wants or what the other party fears. So, if we know these then we may be able to have a say and end the killing of civilians in Georgia.

I already told you the

I already told you the "why." But at this point, it doesn't matter - like I said. What matters is getting them to cease what they are doing. It is definitely a land-grab in order to get more and there is nothing we can say to Russian leadership to make them see things differently. "Negotiating through respect" will not solve the problem (and I'm really not even sure what that means). *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.

The 'why" is very important

If we know the 'why" they are attacking Georgia, we will know what they may do next. if you know why a country is taking another country then you can either know their mind, or if you know how you can best politically manuver to get them to sit down at a negociations table. If you know they are taking it for economic means then you can negotiate through trade. If you know it is about national pride then you know to negotiate through respect. If you know they are just ddoing a land grab so they are in a position to take more land, then you know that if you don't want them to take the next hill you better do something about fortifying the next defensive position. Chess is very important to the russian scheme of things, always be looking ahead of you opponent at least seven moves. Whoo hoo, a new article for everyone to write about "Global Chess". Can't wait to see the articles. Thank you ... thank you very much. That one waas on the house. :)

What they are "really up to"

What they are "really up to" is reclaiming land that they once controlled. They hated the fact that their former empire, the Soviet Union, was disbanded. It doesn't really matter why they are doing it - it just matters that they are doing it. And it needs to stop. *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.

Tactical Land Grab by the Russians

Russia is not just taking land to take land. Russia is taking tactical land at an tactically opportune time. The question is why is it so impotant to them? What are their long term goals? And what are they really up to?

This conflict seems to be a

This conflict seems to be a Russian land-grab and possibly an attempt to overthrow the Georgian president and reclaim the entire country. Russia is absolutely in the wrong here, there's no mistake about that. The question is, what should be done and by whom? Any U.N. option is out, so it must be handled by another organization or by individual countries. But what would be a reasonable and acceptable response? (At this time I'd like to go on the record and state that this conflict has absolutely no parallels to our actions in Iraq.) *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.

Sorry, I stopped reading what you write.

At this point, I am bored of you, quite frankly. Your endless and mindless repetition of baseless arguments and unoriginal name-calling has threatened to lull me to sleep. Perhaps I should take what you've written and write a jingle for Soma. Yeah, that sounds like a plan. DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?

See what I mean when I call you a loser? Thanks for reinforcing my opinion.

@lmorovan: Do you fling poo when people visit your cage?

You can claim anything under the stars, which you have, without a whit of support. All you've done is call me a liar without offering anything in the way of support for your contention and then you whine about what I say without giving evidentiary support for why you believe it to be wrong. There are monkeys at the zoo who debate better than you. DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?

"You support Bush's illegal Iraq War. Bush said the God told him to invade Iraq. Therefore, you are supporting something that God has allegedly sanctioned." see why I am saying you act like a typical loser. You read in my words what fits your agenda, not what is written. "Now, you are supporting the attacking of Iran because they you claim that they possess nuclear weapons..." Another lie. But then, quite predictable.
