Russian-Georgian Conflict: Georgia Brought This on Themselves

This may come as a complete surprise to some people, but Georgia brought this on themselves. The logical fallacy of saying claiming that Georgia's unprovoked attack on South Ossetia, which brought about the attack by Russia, is somehow the fault of the Russians is amazing.

Huh? Isn't the official story the Russians invaded Georgia without provocation and are bombing Georgia because they are "commies"? Interesting. Surprise, Surprise! The Georgians invade South Ossetia with the intention of putting down a rebellion--being the aggressor--and the Russians, on behalf of the ethnic Russians in South Ossetia, are attacking Georgia to get them to stop attacking. As of this writing, Russia has withdrawn its tanks and troops into South Ossetia and her warplanes continue to bomb targets in Georgia until what's left of Georgia's troops make it back into Georgia.

Also, something that is not made generally known to the public is that the Georgian troops attacking South Ossetia have American and Israeli military advisors. Couple that with the fact that the United States military just concluded war games with Georgian forces in "Immediate Response 2008" and it makes you wonder what exactly the troops were training to do.

Thirdly, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvilli was put into his office by the CIA back in 2003 during the Rose Revolution. Saakashvilli complained about the Russian KGB being in Georgia; perhaps they were there to keep tabs on the CIA and Mossad?

Fourth and finally, Georgia is being courted for membership in NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Has anyone bothered to check a map lately? How close is Georgia to the North Atlantic Ocean?

While the Western world is falling over themselves to condemn what is being called naked Russian aggression, the best Georgian President Saakashvilli can come up with to explain his situation is that Russian response is "disproportionate" and that Georgia is a European country and Russia is attacking a member of the EU. Has he bothered to check a map lately? Georgia is about as European as India.

In a way, I feel for Saakashvilli and the Georgian people because they have been duped by the U.S. into believing that they could thumb their noses at the Russian Bear without fear of retaliation. The Georgians were used to test Russian resolve in the lead up to a likely U.S. attack on Iran sometime this year.

If the reader will recall, Russian President Vladimir Putin is on the record as saying that any attack on Iran will be considered to be an attack on Russia. Gee, Bubba Dubya, I guess he isn't messing around.

@jdub,Pub\Shortfall of Religion

One of the central features of religion is the making us forget our troubles by casting the blame for our problems on something far-far away, something beyond our control. Dubya must've been sleeping when the light came on over the facts that 1) people NEED those problems and that 2) they need those problems to be KEPT FAR-FAR AWAY! Being a 'world-leader' DOESN'T change that need for everyone else, but ONLY for yourself! When you're a world-leader, the world's problems might SEEM close to you, but they're still far-far away from everyone else; and it's your job to keep them there! Maybe people who sign-up for the armed forces are taking-on that role as well. But we ought to keep it that simple; the Prezz is doin` his job and the Gunz is helpin` `im so we aren't in danger. And the people say it ... "A-men!" It breaks down like this, Publius

1. If Saddam Hussein was a legitimate threat to the world (and not just Israel) then Bush would not have gone about it the way he did. He could have just laid out the facts before the United Nations and gotten his vote. Instead, he beat the drums of war over alleged WMD, which were never found, and over Saddam Hussein allegedly developing nuclear weapons, which was not the case. On top of that, our own government gave him the means to develop chemical and biological weapons even after he used them against his own people in Halabja. Now we are five-plus years out without an end in sight. How many billions and trillions of dollars do we have to continue to spend before we acknowledge the mistake. (By the way, regime change as a reason for invading another country is not recognized under international law.) 2. The U.S. government and mainstream media is treating this as an act of naked aggression by the Russians without bothering to sort out all the facts. The Georgians are the aggressor here and now they are facing the consequences of their actions, which were probably not entirely their own. 3. I am against war on principle, unless we are defending our homes (self-defense). I have also been opposed to Bush's sabre-rattling toward Iran because he is doing so disingenuously in light of the available evidence, including his own CIA's National Intelligence Estimate, or to placate Israel, whose lobbyists seem to dictate our foreign policy. 4. I did not cite that link in my article. (Sorry, I did not see your comment where you asked that before.) I have read a few articles on the subject, including that of Paul Joseph Watson on PrisonPlanet.com. Consider also that Watson's article cites Israel's DEBKAFiles, which you yourself have cited on occasion. Here is the link to the PrisonPlanet article: http://www.prisonplanet.com/us-attacks-russia-through-client-state-georgia.html I don't blame George Bush and Israel for all the world's problems. I am trying to show the readers of my articles that there is more going on than meets the eye and certainly more than the deliberate disinformation put out by the mainstream media. If people had ALL the information on which to base their assumptions, our country would not be in the mess we find ourselves today. The fact that most Americans have comparatively short memory spans and rely primarily on 9-second soundbites on which to base their entire perception of what is really happening in our country and the world should be cause for concern for you, too. DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?

So, you think it's criminal

So, you think it's criminal to depose an oppressive dictator, who had a long history of human rights abuses and run-ins with the international community highlighted by a multitude of UNSC resolutions and U.S. Public Laws and policies, and to set up a democratically elected government that observes the basic rights of all people (not just the favored ethnicities of Saddam Hussein), but you have no problem with Russia invading Georgia because of Georgia's attempt to put down a rebellion by separatists inside their own border? I guess what I'm trying to figure out is, what exactly is your position on war? And why is it that you are using this as your source (I asked you this in another comment on another Xombyte)? Bush's War in Georgia; Will it be the Flyswatter or the Blunderbuss? Also, why do you always blame George Bush and Israel for all the world's problems? *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.
