The No. 3 Scarlet Knights women's basketball team was upset 60-58 in its season opener by the Stanford Cardinal, ranked No. 7, at the RAC in Piscataway, NJ.

The game was close throughout and Rutgers when ahead by two points in the final minute, but a foul call under the Rutgers basket on sophomore Epiphanny Prince gave the Stanford women's basketball team two free throws with 0.1 seconds left in the game.

Stanford made the free throws, and walked out of the Louis Brown Athletic Center with a hard-won victory over last year's runner-up to the national title.
