Saddleback Church Forum - McCain The Big Winner

Saddleback Church Forum - McCain The Big Winner

0
points

At the “Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency” Pastor Rick Warren asked some tough questions of both Obama and McCain. Usually Obama is quite polished at these kinds of events but in this one, McCain was the clear winner. John McCain showed that he had lived longer and had a lot more experience and knowledge than Barack Obama. It was not even close. Obama looked small and inconsequential in comparison.

McCain Kicked Butt

Obama said he would confront evil with humility.

McCain said he would defeat it!

Scary words from Obama

Yes

That is scary. Wouldn't you want to defeat evil?

Evil

Does anyone seriously believe that a U.S. president, or any one person or government, can actually "defeat" evil?

That's the kind of absurdly unrealistic promise that makes people so skeptical of politicians. Confronting evil sounds to me like something that is actually much more realistic and do-able.

While MCain is at it, why doesn't he promise to no only "defeat evil" but also cure cancer, put a chicken in every pot, and make everyone rich, LOL...

I just got through reading this article and I recommend it to realistic people who want to know what truth honesty and real character is and isn't. Great article I gave you a + for finding it and sharing it with us.

Is Obama for or against controlling conservative talk show radio?

Want to see Obama sing and dance?

I do not believe you read

I do not believe you read the article Idlewild what you mentioned is not what this article is about.

The emotional non substance type of answers to a question is. Guess who was giving those types of answers....

Level of Expectation

In reality you may not be able to defeat evil but wouldn't you at least want to aim for that? Instead of lowering it to just confronting evil? And with humility at that.

Evil

It just seems like a goal that is so vague and unrealistic and is not even remotely possible, even if you could come up with agreement on what it means.

What kind of "evil" is he talking about eliminating-- State-sponsored evil? Evil that couples do to each other? Evil that results in murder? I don't think you can "defeat" any of these. any more than you can "defeat" hate, or prejudice, dishonesty, theft, or any other ill in society.

As for McCain coming off better in the discussion, supposedly he heard some of Obama's questioning by the pastor and so knew some of the questions that would be asked (Obama went first, and then McCain; both were asked the same questions.)

Superman

There's just something a little to superheroish about the word "evil."

I wonder how McCain would look in a pair of tights and a cape? :)

I Remember

Obama saying that he cheated and knew the answer to one of the questions. I guess he looked too then. All I'm saying is that I wish he had been as firm with his answers as McCain was.
