Sanjaya Did not Suck!

Sanjaya Malakar Rocks American Idol this week

They say he cannot sing, and that he is all looks, but this week I think Sanjaya proved his critics wrong. Singing you have Really Got me, he really got to the judges… at least Randy and Paula anyway. Simon’s response was to tease him about the little girl who was crying. She was however, crying with joy.

As for me, I was stunned. I expected another thready weak imitation of Michael Jackson. However, at the same time, his cute little smile would have had me dialing his number, if I was inclined to vote at all… which I am not. I was pleasantly surprised that he found a bit of power and loosened up a bit, SANG, and even rocked it out.

Yes, I know he is not the best singer on American Idol this week, and I doubt he will win, but he is likely to stay around for a while. If he is not the best, they why will he stay? Easy. He is cute and has the heart of the little girls with the fast voting fingers. He is also purported to be supported by votefortheworst.com. "Vote for Sanjaya for as long as you can, two full hours if you have the time," the site urged. "Just redial while you lay in bed, you'll feel good about it tomorrow when someone the judge’s love goes home and Sanjaya doesn't." Somehow, this week, I do not think, as much coaxing will be required.
