Ambition
I would put Obama in that same too-ambitious category. He has six or so years as a competent state legislator, then runs for Senate, and after two years in the Senate decides he's got all the knowledge and skill he needs to take on the highest job in the nation. Probably he planned to become president before he even ran for the Senate.
Granted he has more experience than Palin, but when he says he's going to do this and that, I keep thinking that he's never done anything like that before, and what he's saying is just talk. I know, all politicians over-promise, but it just seems even more glaring in his case, since he's got so little experience to back it up.
Bush made Obama's presidency possible
Perhaps the biggest legacy made possible by Bush 43 is Barack Obama or, possibly, President Obama. In 2000, people were tired of eight years of Bill Clinton and Hillary the Harpy. They wanted something new. Who knew then that in 2008, we'd look nostalgically at BJ's in the oval office? Now, thanks to Dubya's past eight years, Americans are looking for something new. Barack Obama is that something new.
McCain is too old to be effective, which puts Palin in a very real position to be president sooner than later. Don't think she doesn't know it, either.
At least Obama had Biden and has the intelligence to surround himself with other advisors with more experience.
