Sarah Palin Stepping Down as Governor
posted July 3, 2009 - 3:38pmSarah Palin has announced that as of July 26th she will be stepping down as the Governor of Alaska. Her Lt. Governor, Sean Parnell, will be inaugurated at the end of the month. No specifics were given on Governor Palin's decision to step down.
The obvious speculation here is that she will seek nomination from the Republican Party for the 2012 presidential elections. She has certainly stayed in the mainstream spotlight for sometime since the 2008 election results. General political protocol does not necessarily justify stepping down as a legitimate campaign tactic. In fact, most potential candidates want to maintain their elected offices during any campaigns.
As an individual who has a tendency to vote toward the Republicans, I personally feel that pushing Palin to run in 2012 would be a large mistake. The public has preconceptions about her, she doesn't do exceptionally well in Public speaking, and frankly, her voice annoys me.
Of course this is not even to mention that her personal life has become something of a circus with her daughters pregnancy. I simply don't think she is right for the country, or the executive office. It also would be fairly amusing to watch how all those Christian Conservatives would juggle a Palin campaign marred with an illegitimate child.
