Sarah Palin: Vice President of the United States or Mommy of the United States?

I took some time to really consider the situation and the best response I can give it is coming from the standpoint of a fellow parent. I don't know everything about what happened viz the pregnant daughter and, quite frankly, I don't want or need to know. It isn't like Sarah Palin was running for the position of my mother in which case I would want to know more about her personal life.

Back in the Spring, I took a class called Love and Logic to help me become a better parent for my son. One of the things I took away from the class is there are no guarantees. We can do everything 100% to the best of our ability and our kids can still end up making goofy choices. Similarly, we can screw things up royally and our kids can succeed greatly in life in spite of it. (My parents were in the latter category, by the way.) The idea is that we are playing the odds by giving our kids the tools, knowledge, and understanding to be a successful, well-adjusted adult; the rest is up to the child.

So, I am not going to judge Ms. Palin's qualification to be John McCain's Vice President based on her parenting skills. In fact, I am not going to judge her at all. All I care about is her ability to faithfully execute the potential office with which the voters may offer her come November.

If anyone else is interested in the best candidate for the position, I would suggest you do the same.
