It's the BC Lions home opener Friday night against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The B.C. Lions suffered a rare season-opening loss and it won't get any easier for their 2008 home debut on Friday, against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The Lions head into the game at BC Place still smarting from a 28-18 loss to the Calgary Stampeders. With a franchise record of 73-34-1 over the past six regular reasons, the Lions are unaccustomed to starting the season at a disadvantage.

Starting 0-2 is not fatal in an 18-game schedule, but could result in some early soul searching in the Lions' organization. With the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL already announcing that they will entering a re-building phase, the BC Lions are the only other pro team in BC.
