A monumental effort is being made to collect over a million signatures on a petition to help the whaling commission make decisions to save endangered species of whales.

In particular, the Southern Right Whale and the Northern Right Whale are seriously endangered and the Japanese continue to take them for "scientific reasons".

Whale and dolphin meat is considered a delicacy in Japan.

In the northern hemisphere only 350 of these whales remain and many of them are not breeding whales. Their situation is dire.
