Save Energy, Save Money by Insulating Doorknobs

It was cold outside this morning, and when I touched the doorknob
on the front door, I noticed how cold it was. I suddenly realized
that this is a silent energy thief. Think about it, a metal doorknob
exposed to freezing temperatures on the outside, conducting heat from
the interior of your house to the outdoors. Since home heating costs
so much these days, that doorknob is sucking dollars to the outside
too.

So I thought, what can be done about it? I need to find a way to
insulate the inside doorknob to reduce heat flow to the outside.
Some ideas I have are: using a sock, especially a wool winter sock,
to wrap around the doorknob, fastened with a rubber band around the
narrow part of the knob; or, using a foam can cooler to stick over the
inside knob, similar to an outdoor faucet insulator.

Does anybody actually make a doorknob insulator? If not, this
might be a business opportunity. Remember, you heard it from me.
