posted February 2, 2008 - 5:40amWhen you go shopping for your weekly, or monthly groceries you probably stock up on cleaning products too. This adds an average of 10% to the total cost. You may think that you have no choice in this matter because you must clean your house.
Think again. There are several ordinary kitchen cupboard items that will clean your home as effectively as these chemically produced products.
What could be more natural than lemon juice for removing soap scum from the taps in your bathroom, or making chrome taps in the kitchen shine? Rub lemon onto brass, or copper and use it as a metal cleaner. Add a few drops of lemon juice to the rinse water when washing glass and you will get a wonderful sparkle.
Make a strong solution of salt and hot water and use it to keep drains clean and clear. It prevent them getting blocked and gets rid of smells.
Use bicarbonate of soda to remove burnt on food from pans and dishes. Just make it into a thick paste and leave to soak for a short time. Rinse and watch the stuck on bits float away. The same paste will clean stainless steel and get rid of grease and burnt on marks on oven doors without scratching the finish.
Soak a cloth in white vinegar and use it to clean and shine plastic coated chairs, kitchen table, door handles and other things. Wipe your bread bin out with white vinegar and leave it open until the smell disappears. This will stop mould from growing. Vinegar will also remove stains left by dripping taps.
Use these tips and save yourself money on cleaning products.
