Save some money and start your herbs from cuttings.
When taking a cutting from a plant, remove the two bottom leaves to promote root growth. Remove any flowers so the plant will focus its energy on growing roots. Lastly ensure that the new cuttings get lots of moisture and humidity such as in a greenhouse. I like to use clear bags over the plants in my sunroom.
If you new cuttings start to wilt the first few days, do not get discouraged, they’ll pick up.
Here are some herbs that root easy from cuttings:
1. Bee Balm
2. Borage
3. Catnip
4. Lavender
5. Lemon Balm
6. Marijoram
7. Oregano
8. Rosemary
9. Sage
10. Geraniums
11. Sweet Woodruff
12. Tarragon
13. Thyme
14. Winter Savory
15. Wormwood
By taking cuttings and growing them throughout the winter, you will save a ton of money on next years herb garden.
