Save the Polar Bears?
posted May 10, 2007 - 12:04pmI just rehd an AlterNet-report on Women in Government Leading the Global-Warming Charge, and the issue of 'polar bear extinction' came up.
First of all, polar bears ARE NOT going extinct (not just yet, anyway). By some accounts, their population has multiplied to tens-of-thousands in the past decades. Their 'danger of extinction' is just a myth that ties those animals to the 'crucifix' of global-warming.
As for global-warming, I don't believe that it's entirely true; but my prime resource on that belief is Steve Forbes, who says that--by all accounts--the "globe" has only "warmed" by maybe one degree.
But I'm sure there are many-many reports of temperature-increases in places that haven't contributed to that increase ... glaciers in the Northern Hemisphere, various places in Alaska, Canada and Russia, the Arctic ice ... all areas to which the pollution-producers and/or climate-managers have sent the warming.
That, and have you ever noticed that factory-owners almost-never seem to live anywhere near the waste their factories produce?
