Say It Ain't So! Shopping On-Line Soon to be Taxed

NOOOO! New York is setting a precedence by collecting taxes on on-line purchases...starting with Amazon.com. Isn't it enough that we already pay shipping and handling?

Sales Tax? Not in Oregon...

Change and the world changes with you. Don't change, and the world changes anyway. In Oregon, it's always been no-change for the state, not even if it's just a few cents on the dollar. Shop, buy, save, in TAX-FREE Oregon, bricks-and-mortar, or on-line, it's all the same, NO SALES TAX! And, Oregon voters have told Salem (State Capitol), over and over, NO SALES TAX!

Taxing online shopping

The thing is, online stores have been given exemptions from sales tax--a tax that other merchants have to collect--because it was felt that the exemption was needed to help online shopping get off the ground. Now that online shopping is a huge business, does it really need this special exemption? I don't like paying sales tax either, but the problem is that online businesses have an unfair advantage over bricks-and-mortar stores... which is part of the reason why stores in my town have been shutting down left and right... everything from music stores and book stores to greeting card stores have been driven out of business by online stores.

Nothing changes in Oregon

Oh, well, tough breaks for those with sales tax. But, they should be use to it. I believe if you live in a state that has sales tax, you should have to pay it. And, this is another good reason why voting these type of things in are permanent, and are never temporary, even when politicians say they will be. They've run those ideas by Oregonians several times, and, thank God, our voters are smarter than the average. Because, we know if the tax was ever approved, even if they said it would be temporary, it would just keep on keeping on. Too bad for those sales-tax residents, but, here, in Oregon, nothing changes, no sales tax is just that, no sales tax. And, if you buy it in Oregon, Internet or otherwise, its still no sales tax. No one in Oregon is going to collect tax for another state, so, its gotta be good Oregon Internet sales. Buy in Oregon, and save a bundle! Although, I've always thought an Oregon Sales tax should work like this: If you have Oregon I.D. your not subject to any sales tax, but, if you don't, you'd have to pay the tax. That way Oregonians could get the best of both, No Sales Tax, and Sales Tax. I don't know why no one has ever considered this idea. It's the only sales tax I'd ever go along with. _________________________________ 1973 – What Happened to All Those People? - 2008 (a heart-felt opinion) http://www.xomba.com/1973_what_happened_to_all_those_people_a_heart_felt_opinion The Big Yellow Box, to the Right: http://www.xomba.com/the_yellow_box_to_the_right The Craigslist House http://www.xomba.com/the_craigslist_house_a_real_life_survivor_series XombaZine, medicine for the mind and soul------------Xomba Books - An Idea! http://www.xomba.com/xombazine_medicine_for_the_mind_soul_xomba_books_an_idea Read all my posts: http://www.xomba.com/user/bigpink WRITE & Earn $$$ http://www.xomba.com/referral/7777ea2e VOTE BARACK OBAMA for PRESIDENT!
