Besides, (though I don't believe I'm about to start caring) I doubt that Ryan and Alanis had any "real" relationship. I'm betting it's more like 'they kept happening to be at the same places, noticed it and hung out together' (and anything more--even if you search-and-search to find it on tape somewhere--is really only imagined).

This is where I'm lucky, as I didn't have to go through the 'relationship/break-up'-cycle before Ryan Reynolds stole Scarlett Johansson from me!

Alanis and Ryan were together several years, and in fact were engaged. Shortly after their engagement ended Ryan took up with Scarlett (blonde and a decade younger than Alanis).

Did he trade Alanis in for a younger, prettier model, or maybe Alanis and Ryan had incompatibility issues (despite both of them being Canadian... maybe one was a Canadiens fan, and the other a Maple Leafs devotee?)

Nope, I just read the article you linked to, and one that that article links to.

But when I read that article it reminded me that when he started seeing Johansson it was shortly after he & Morrissette had broken off their engagement. I had never heard of him before reading that earlier article, and I hadn't known he & Morrissette were involved.

I think the first time I ever heard of him was Van Wilder (or maybe that sitcom, 2 Guys a Girl and a Pizza Parlor). Then more recently as the smart-ass, vampire slayer in Blade Trinity with Wesley Snipes...Van Wilder on steroids.

If you want the full 'Chaos Theory' on it (the prediction-pattern based on the premise that people are self-centered sluts), then you know that--if Ryan becomes "Hugh Hefner"-successful and Scarlett is still human (and not the immortal goddess she is probably made out to be)--then Reynolds' faithfulness will wear off (like the introductory-rates AT&T accuses COX Communications of 'fooling' people with), and he will 'trade ~her~ in for a younger model.'

~That's~ 'the man' Alanis was singing about (even if she WAS inspired by Reynolds): the 'Chaos Theory'-man who does what prospers himself rather than what prospers a second-party (or who does what prospers a different second-party because he 'knows' it will return to him sooner than prospering the original second-party).

That brings up the example of a focus on comments: you probably notice that I commonly 'fill' the list of recent comments; Sure I write a fair amount of articles, but those are to prosper me---and I'm not here to 'prosper me.' I'm here to prosper the commenters!
