Science Riddle and Knowledge
posted September 8, 2006 - 3:15pmI have a huge appetite, but no one ever knows when I’m ready to devour my next victim; I could go days or even months without a bite. There are many theories as to why I am the way I am. Some think I’m alien—others, a freak of nature, and the latest guess is that I’m simply riddled with untimely indigestion. Many venture out to see my main attraction. Some stay for a long time, some for a short stint, and others are content with merely passing by, but either way, I'm usually blue. I have to admit that occasionally people do not like the way I behave, but really, I’m no square, and the rest of the time people are happy when they’re around me, on me, above me, and even inside of me.
Answer:
Recently scientists have discovered an enormous subterranean methane deposit within the area most people know as the Bermuda Triangle. Like carbonated bubbles from a soda can, when the methane-filled pockets reach the surface, they pop, and cause giant waves that would be able to capsize the largest of ocean-going vessels. The methane, leaked into the atmosphere, is also capable of stopping or even exploding airplane engines. With a bit more testing and real life observation, scientists may finally be able to put to rest one of the greatest mysteries ever to plague mankind.
