SWINE FLU

A 54-year-old man has become the 4th person in Hong Kong to die from swine flu. There were 191 new cases on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, bringing Hong Kong's total number of swine flu cases/infections to 5809 with 69 hospitalizations, including 4 critical cases.

"Wen heaps praise on Macau's new leader"

Wen's reason? Fernando Chui "firmly supported" outgoing Macau chief executive Edmund Ho, even though Edmund Ho was undemocratic and most likely under the influence of the other members of the 'undemocratic Big 4' (Donald Tsang, Stanley Ho & Stephen Lam).

According to pro-democracy legislator Antonio Ng, " There is nothing surprising. He would have been elected anyway".

Translation: 'With a pre-determined outcome, what's the point in discussing electoral/political reform anymore?' Hong Kong went through a similar phase in 2005 when Donald Tsang forced Hongkongers to accept HIS INTERPRETATION of what China wanted (which in Donald Tsang's twisted and overly patriotic mind, is to delay universal suffrage for as long as possible, essentially turning universal suffrage into universal SUFFERING).

According to Leong Lok-wa, a deputy to the National People's Congress, "I hope (that) he will put (at least some) effort into solving Macau's economic problems that have emerged since the financial tsunami (back in 2007, not the fourth quarter of 2008 or the first quarter of 2009 that Donald Tsang wants to force down our throats). "There is particularly an urgent need to assess the development of the gaming industry" that has been hammered by the global financial crisis.

Implications/Analysis/Comments/Remarks: When Tsui meets Donald Tsang for a Strategic Economic Dialogue or whatever, surely, Tsang will tell Chui how to love China like a lunatic particularly in how to deny democracy and the fact that there is a financial crisis. "various walks of life" only includes groups friendly towards China.

BUSINESS: "BNP paribas hires Ren as Greater China head"

According to Mignonne Chen, "She is a pioneer in investment banking in China and as a result, we have a significant opportunity to strengthen our strategic dialogue with clients (in China) by expanding our investment capabilities in China".

"Merrill (Lynch) hired Ms. Ren in February, 2007 at a time when mainalnd investment banking revenues WERE SOARING past the US$1 billion mark for the industry".

"Before Merrill, Ms. Ren was a top banker at Citigroup, although she was suspended by the bank in June, 2004 over an inquiry into the US$3.5 billion initial public offering (IPO) in December, 2003 of China Life Insurance, IN WHICH SHE PLAYED A KEY ROLE".

Implications/Analysis/Comments/Remarks: This is disgraceful. China is so obsessed with investment and 8% economic growth that the threat/imminent possibility of corruption has been ignored yet again. How can this happen? BNP Paribas is an INTERNATIONAL company, meaning that whoever is hired must be subject to INTERNATIONAL laws, but we know that Donald Tsang always provides cover for officials loyal to China/ The fact that Margaret Ren is the daughter-in-law of the late Zhao Ziyang, a prominent Communist Party official, played a larger role in her appointment to BNP Paribas than her banking skills/talent and the fact that she was suspended by Citigroup at one point in her career (although she was cleared in 2006) proves that she is corrupt and this should clearly be a red flag because this is deeply troubling as the suspension raises serious questions/doubts about her honesty.
