Seasons, Shoulders and Sequins

Seasons, Shoulders and Sequins

This time of year is brilliant. Okay, so its the end of summer, or end of whatever you would like to call the season we've just had. It seems like a warmer version of winter, just with non-suitable clothes. I'm over spending all that money just for my summer wardrobe I get to wear for a week on my holiday! At least we expect bad weather in the winter. We can buy clothes that we know are going to suit the weather. None of this should I take a jacket or not? Will it rain? Winter is so predictable and thats why I love it. To be fair, I love the start of any fashion season. All the new trends, what will I buy into? I never truly know. This summer, I chose a sort of egyptian style, with my embroidered jumpsuit, my tasseled necklaces etc. It seemed appropiate since I holidayed in Egypt! This winter however, I don't think I'll team my outfits up to where I'm going away. That would result in a very non-stylish tennis number since the ATP Tennis world tour finals in the 02 arena seems to be the highlight of my winter!

This winter, I'm definately thinking sexy, something I think every season I can assure you, but its the idea that I put with it that completes it. I'm drawn to the pop icons of the year. Lady Gaga? Far to extreme but her style brings inspiration with it. I love Pixie Lott and Little Boots, they are exactly the style that i am feeling. However, I am not quite daring enough to be seen in just a leotard with a blazer over it. Those looks just wouldn't work as I'm walking to uni in the cold weather. I am a fan of the rock chic style though.

Something I'm not so keen on, I keep reading in fashion magazines the two words, Big Shoulders. I couldn't be more depressed at the thought. I can't see how a big shoulder makes a woman look attractive? Arn't ment supposed to have the big shoulders? Its in the make-up. Why is fashion so content on us looking more male. The last few seasons its been all about the "Boyfriend look."  Well I quite like the fact that I'm a girl so don't feel the need to steer my style towards the male generation. My other thought on Big Shoulders are from Elizabethan times. All I can see when a magazine shows me these big shoulder pads is Elizabeth I sitting there in the big ball gown.

I know its all opinion. Thats what gives everyone their different style, but somethings I just hope never takes off! On the other hand I love the sequins that are about this season. I'm scared, but will definately be trying out a full sequined dress. It reminds me of my pantomine days but I'll try to repress that thought.

Whatever trend you choose, choose it because you love it. Style is important. It makes people feel amazing.
